Journeying Deeper into Bible Study with Stephanie Pavlantos

There is an indescribable transformative power in the study of the Bible. The Bible is a collection of books that tell the story of God's people and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Studying the Bible is an important aspect of Christian faith and practice.

Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts. - Jeremiah 15:16

1. Power and Importance of Bible Study

Stephanie shared how her Bible study journey began and the role it played in her life. She revealed how she felt the Holy Spirit opening her eyes to the scriptures when reading the book of John. This section of our discussion can be summarized with Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

2. Understanding and Studying the Bible

Stephanie and I explored various approaches to studying the Bible and how understanding the historical and cultural context of the scriptures enhances its meaning. As Acts 17:11 states, “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

3. The Importance of Deep Bible Study

Stephanie revealed how her personal studies helped her discover her calling as a teacher. She stressed the significance of reading the Bible as an ongoing process, allowing for insights relevant to different life seasons. Psalm 119:105 serves as a reminder, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

4. Knowing God's Will

Studying the Bible helps us to know God more and to understand His will for our lives. The book of Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." The Bible is a guidebook that helps us navigate through life's challenges and decisions. It provides us with wisdom and insight to make good choices and live a pleasing life to God.

Reading and studying the Bible teaches us about God's character, His love for us, and His plan for salvation. The book of John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This verse reminds us of God's great love for us and the sacrifice He made for our salvation.

5. Strengthening Our Faith

Studying the Bible also helps to strengthen our faith and deepen our relationship with God. The book of Romans 10:17 says, "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." The more we read and study the Bible, the more our faith grows.

Through studying the Bible, we learn about the faith and struggles of the people in the Bible. We see how God was faithful to them and how they overcame their trials and challenges. This gives us hope and encouragement that God will be faithful to us and help us overcome our challenges.

6. Living Out Our Faith

Studying the Bible not only helps us to know God's will and strengthen our faith, but it also helps us to live out our faith. The book of James 1:22 says, "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." The Bible teaches us how to live a life that is pleasing to God and how to love and serve others.

Through studying the Bible, we learn about the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The book of Galatians 5:22-23 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." These fruits of the Spirit should be evident in our lives as we live out our faith.

Stephanie Pavlantos’ journey with Bible study is a testament to the transformative power of delving deeper into the Word of God. The importance of personal exploration and understanding, not merely relying on others' interpretations, is a strong emphasis that we all can learn from. Let us be encouraged to take time to explore the Bible and discover faith through the Word of God.
