Christian New Year encouragement from a God who never lets go

As we Wrap Up 2025 With Grace, there’s something about December 31 that makes us want to do mental math.

What did I accomplish?

What did I lose?

What did I survive?

What did I avoid?

What did I promise God I would change, and then didn’t?

If you’re reading this with a full heart, thank God. If you’re reading this with a weary heart, thank God, too, because you made it here. And I want to say something gently, and clearly:

You do not have to cross into a new year dragging shame behind you like luggage.

“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18–19)

I love that verse, not because it pretends the past did not happen, but because it reminds us that God is not finished, not with you, not with me, not with our stories.

Wrapping up 2025 with grace, and stepping into 2026 with hope.

Wrap Up 2025 With Grace: Release what you were never meant to carry

Some years are loud. Some years are quiet. Some years feel like a victory lap, and others feel like crawling to the finish line with mascara on your chin and prayer on repeat.

If 2025 stretched you, I see you.

If 2025 surprised you, I’m with you.

If 2025 exposed things you did not want to face, listen, that can still be grace.

I’ve learned something over the years, especially as someone who has lived a “before and after” kind of life. God doesn’t only redeem outcomes, He redeems processes. The messy middle. The slow healing. The repeated prayers. The days you showed up with a trembling faith and whispered, “Jesus, help.”

Sometimes the biggest evidence of growth is not what you achieved, it’s what you refused to go back to.

Wrap Up 2025 With Grace with one faithful next step

Before you rush into resolutions, I want to offer you a simple end-of-year practice. No fancy planner required.

1) Release what is not yours to carry

Release perfection. Release people pleasing. Release the need to prove. Release the weight of “I should have.”

Give it to the Lord in one honest sentence:

“Jesus, I can’t carry this into 2026. I’m giving it to You.”

2) Remember the places God held you up

Even if you cannot see huge “miracles,” look for mercy. Look for protection. Look for comfort. Look for the strength you did not have on your own.

Write down three moments where God met you, even if it was small.

3) Receive grace for what still feels unfinished

Not everything gets wrapped up neatly by December 31. Some things are still healing. Some things are still being rebuilt.

Grace says, “We can start again without being punished.”

4) Reset your next step, not your whole life

You do not need a 47-point plan. You need one faithful next step.

A phone call.

A boundary.

A confession.

A morning with your Bible open.

A return to prayer.

The encouragement I want to speak over you for 2026

If you’re stepping into a new year carrying regret, hear me, God does not wait for you to become polished before He walks with you. He meets you in truth, and He leads you into freedom.

And yes, I mean real freedom.

I have the word FREED tattooed on me (you won't see it, it's on the nape of my neck), and it’s not just a cute idea. It’s a testimony. Jesus does not only forgive, He restores. He does not only rescue, He rebuilds. He does not only pull you out, He teaches you how to live free.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

For 2026, I’m praying this over you:

  • That your relationship with God becomes personal, not performative.

  • That your Bible stops feeling intimidating and starts feeling like home.

  • That you trade shame for truth, and isolation for community.

  • That your past becomes a platform for God’s glory, not a prison for your identity.

What’s coming in my ministry, and how it will serve you

If you’ve been walking with me through my writing, my speaking, and my online posts, thank you. You are part of why I keep showing up.

Here’s what I’m building for 2026, with you in mind:

A renewed podcast, with real talk and real hope

Coming in 2026, She Talks Truth with Ruth Hovsepian, with solo episodes and special conversations led alongside guest co-hosts.

Online Bible studies and reading rhythms you can actually stick to

Not complicated, not overwhelming, and not guilt-driven. Just consistent time in the Word, with structure and support.

More teaching on discipleship

Because you don’t have to have a perfect past to help someone else find Jesus. If God can use me, He can use you.

Speaking, resources, and tools for everyday women

I’m continuing to build messages and resources that meet women where they are, whether they’re healing from the past, rebuilding after heartbreak, or learning how to walk closely with Christ for the first time.

My heart is simple: I want to help you love God deeply, read His Word faithfully, pray honestly, and live free.

A prayer for the last day of the year

Lord,

Thank You for carrying me through 2025, for what I understand, and what I still don’t. For doors You opened, and doors You closed for my protection. For the ways You healed me, and the places You are still healing.

I give You my regrets, my grief, my fear, and my unfinished stories. I receive Your grace, Your wisdom, and Your peace.

As I step into 2026, help me walk with You, not ahead of You, not behind You, but with You. Make my life a quiet testimony of Your faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

A gentle question to carry into 2026

What is one thing God is inviting you to do consistently, not perfectly, just consistently?

If you want to share it, leave a comment. I read them, and I pray for you.
